VILLA DELLA PORTA BOZZOLO IN CASALZUIGNO VARESE

Villa Della Porta Bozzolo, located in Casalzuigno (Varese), was built in the second half of the sixteenth century when the noble notary Giroldino Della Porta acquired a wide area of land in Casalzuigno to make you a noble residence.
At the beginning of the eighteenth century, the villa saw one of its most important transformations by Gian Angelo III of the Door (1690-1745), on the occasion of his wedding in 1711 with Isabella, daughter of Count Giorgio Giulini, ancestor of the famous Milanese historian. Thanks to the architect Antonio Maria Porani, he wanted to set the main axis of the garden parallel to the interior facade of the dwelling (thus contravening the classic rules according to which the main axis had to be in the axis with the main salons of the villa, dividing in two symmetrical parts of the garden itself).

In the eighteenth century, however, there are further upgrading works that add to the imposing Italian garden with stairs, fountains, water games and a frescoed editorial. Around the villa there are interesting rustic pieces, such as a monumental press containing a cycle of rococo frescos painted in the painter's workshop (of Varese but originally of Vacallo in maternal line) Pietro Antonio Magatti.
At the same time a rich fountain was created in 1723 by the architect Pellegatta.

After these achievements the Della Porta family declined and in the nineteenth century the residence was first sold to the Carpani, then in 1861 to the Richini and then in 1877 to the Bozzolo who remained owners until 1989, the year when the structure was donated to the FAI.
